Paris – New York : De l’opérette à la comédie musicale

Festival la Belle Époque

Jardin de la Grande Villa du Châtelet, 31 Quai Paul Léger

Evian-Les-Bains, France

————————————

Avec Joëlle Morris (mezzo-soprano) et Jean-Marie Reboul (piano).

Musiques de Jacques Offenbach, André Messager, Georges Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter…

Lectures : Jean-Michel Henny

Jardin de la Grande Villa du Châtelet, 31 Quai Paul Léger

Plein tarif : 14 euros / Tarif réduit : 12 euros

Beethoven-1The Maine Music Society Chorale and Orchestra will join music-making forces with the Bates College Choir and Orchestra, the Schola Cantorum of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul and the chamber choirs of Edward Little and Lewiston High Schools to present the monumental 9th Symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven. Homage to Edith Piaf –  when French Chanson meets Portland Jazz

83360444_3420459304693206_6660980116971061248_oRecognized for her unpretentious charm and incredibly soulful, dynamic vocals, Joëlle Morris, along with jazz pianist Matt Fogg  (recently featured on Rich Tozier’s “Friday Night Jazz” on NPR) manages to hit the very tricky balance of incorporating Edith Piaf’s greatest hits such as “La Vie en Rose“, “Hymne à l’amour” and “Non, je ne regrette rien” with fresh and exciting 21st century jazz overtones. Bringing a modern take on classic French chanson to delight audiences with a contagious “joie de vivre”.   Sung both in French and in English.
